Wednesday, August 9th was a busy day in Milford! St. Philip’s held our annual Pork & Corn Roast dinner, and once again, it was a successful event!
The dinner includes slices of delicious pork roast, two types of salad – macaroni and coleslaw – sliced tomatoes, delicious new potatoes cooked to perfection and soaked in butter, a bun, dill pickle slice, and TWO cobs of corn! Oh, and did we mention pie? Every meal included a slice of pie! All this for only $25 a dinner.
As you may expect, the day started with husking corn! This is an All Hands On Deck type of job, and we got it done!

A great deal of planning goes into getting over 100 meals ready for pick up between 5 and 6:30 p.m., but the St. Philip’s ACW (Anglican Church Women) know what needs to get done, and well, got it done!

Putting the meals together is a masterful thing to watch!
The meal pick up went very smoothly. It was fun to meet some of our neighbours, people who come back every year, and people visiting the County. We even heard from a few people that this is the first time they had been on St. Philip Road – such fun!

And then some people stayed to enjoy their meal! It was a lovely evening, so we put out some tables and chairs, and a good time was had by all!

The St. Philip’s ACW want to thank everyone who worked to make this a successful event, and everyone who purchased a meal. The funds raised will go towards funding the various missions and projects the ACW supports.
