SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4: Service of Morning Prayer with Archdeacon Fran Langlois. The Gospel reading is The Parable of the Wicked Tenant, from Matthew 21: 33-46, where Jesus tells his disciples ‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone“

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11 – Harvest Sunday and Service of Holy Communion with Archdeacon Nancy Northgrave. The Gospel is from Luke 17: 11-19, the story of the ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” After this service we say goodbye to Archdeacon Nancy, wishing her well in her new ministry.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18 and a Service of Morning Prayer with Archdeacon Fran Langlois. We are back in the Gospel of Matthew, with the Pharisees attempting to trick Jesus with asking about paying the imperial tax to Caesar. But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, “You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me? Show me the coin used for paying the tax.” They brought him a denarius,  and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?” “Caesar’s,” they replied.Then he said to them, “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25: Service of Morning Prayer with visiting preacher Marjorie Seguin. We continue in the Gospel of Matthew, with the disciples asking Jesus for the Great Commandment. Jesus responds with “This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
